ISO 14000 is a series of standards for environmental management. The ISO 14000 standards are divided into two categories: organization standards and product and process standards.
Organization standards include the following:
- Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Specification Standard- ISO 14001
- EMS Guidelines - ISO 14004
- Environmental Auditing - ISO 14010/11/12 & WD14015
- Environmental Performance Evaluation - ISO 14031 and TR 14032
Product standards include the following:
- Environmental Labeling - ISO 14020/21/24/25
- Life-Cycle Assessment - ISO 14040/41/42/43 and TR 14048/49
- Environmental Aspects in Product Standards - ISO Guide 64
- Terms and Definitions - ISO 14050
There is a great deal of interest on ISO 14001. Asia and Europe have the greatest number of companies certified (registered) to this standard. Companies in North America are also implementing ISO 14001.
